Mr. Appapillai Rajendra was born in Malaysia (June 16th 1936), lived in Mallakam, Sri Lanka, Hillsborough, NJ, and Harrisburg, NC, USA. He passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2022 in Harrisburg, NC.
He is the Loving Son of Late Muthamarl and Late Appapillai,
Son-in-Law of Late Maheswari and Late Cookathasan,
Husband of Late Saraswathy,
Brother of Late Vethanayaki, Late Dheivendra, and Late A.P.Natrajan.,
Brother-in-Law of Late Sathasivam, Nageswari, Sathiyawathy, Selvamalar, Kulendran, Late Mahendran and Balendran,
Father of Aravinthan (New Jersey, USA - Treasurer Ilankai Tamil Sangam), and Ahalya (North Carolina, USA),
Father-in-Law of Shenthan and Abhiramy,
Grandfather of Aarana, Amruthaa, Ashvitha & Athavan.
Uncle of Sasikala, Ravichanra, Late Vimalachandran, Sureshkumar, Jayanthan, Dushyanthy, Pratheepan, Prashanthan, Praveena, Dinesh, Pratheesh, Nirosh & Gauthaman.,
He worked as an entomologist in Kanthalai Sugar Cane Corporation, Sri Lanka, and for the Environmental Production Agency in the US. He had a passion for gardening, writing, yoga, reading, cooking, baking and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a long time resident of New Jersey and an active member of the community activities. A life long tamil activist, Mr. Rajendra actively campaigned for the human rights, development and the well being of the tamil minority in Sri Lanka. His demise will be a immense loss to the Tamil American community.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ilankai Thamil Sangam, USA or North Carolinians For Peace Foundation (NCFPf) in his name.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday November 13th, 2022
