"I am in deep shock to learn the demise of our favorite chemistry teacher. Chanmugathas Sir was my chemistry teacher at the Science Centre from 1972 to 1974. I feel blessed that I talked to him and his wife Radha the day before he passed away. Out of the blue, I received this call from him. The last time I talked to him was in 1992, which was also surprise call from nowhere. He obtained my contact number through a friend of a friend of my brother to contact me. We spoke for almost an hour talking about my life, his life and family. At the end the call, he asked to turn on the video chat to see each other. I couldn't believe he was 82 and still working as a professor at CalState University. I even remarked that he was looking much younger than me in my late 60's. He must have recollected his life lately. I feel so, so blessed that I was there somewhere in a corner in his memory. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his family. He is a great loss to the student community. He may have demised physically but he lives in all our hearts and minds for ever. "

"Sorry to hear the demise of our beloved teacher. I belong to the first batch of students who were very, very fortunate to have him as our Chemistry teacher, (AL batch 1966 to 1968). CC as he is fondly called was not only a Teacher but a Friend to all his students. Even after we left Jaffna College he kept in touch with all his students wherever possible. When he moved to US he even started JC website to keep JC Alumni who were all over the Globe informed, and where ever we room he reminded us of our College home. Some of us were fortunate to meet him and his wife Ratha in London,in June this year and his demise came as a shock to us all. Our sympathies are with his family and you are all in our prayers.
