With profound sorrow and deep gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Ganeshwary Rajaratnam, beloved mother of Rajaratnam Sivananthan (former President of the Union College Old Students’ Association – Melbourne), at the age of 97, at 2:15 AM on 11 April 2026.
Born on 31 May 1929, she lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, sacrifice, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Thambiah Rajaratnam, and the cherished daughter of the late Mr. Velliyampalam and Mrs. Rasaluxmi of Sithankerny,
Ganeshwary and Thambiah Rajaratnam were blessed with five sons:-
Rabinthiranathan (Ravi), Jeganathan (Bala), Kulandranathan (Kulan), Vaithiyanathan (Ranjan), and Union College alumnus Sivanathan (Siva),
She was the heart and foundation of her family and will be deeply missed by her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,
Mrs. Ganeshwary Rajaratnam was a guiding light whose kindness, resilience, and values touched and shaped many lives.
Family remain forever grateful for the love she gave and the legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to live within all of us always.
On behalf of our family and the Union College community, we extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
May her soul attain eternal peace at the feet of the Almighty.
