On Sunday January 8th, 2023, Jeremiah Sithamparanathan, of Auckland, New Zealand, peacefully departed this world for his eternal unification with Lord Shiva.
Dr. Sithamparanathan was the oldest son of late Dr. Rajendram and late Sivakami Jeremiah,
Son-in-law of late Mr. Thambiappa and late Parasakthy Selvaretnem, both families from Iyanarkoviladdy,Vannarponnai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
Beloved husband of Ratnadevi Sithamparanathan,
Loving father of Dr. Kalyani Muruganantham (Melbourne, Australia), late Abhirami Narthana, Ranjani Nagendra (Darwin, Australia) and Kumaran Sithamparanathan (Auckland, New Zealand),
Father-in-law of Nadarajah Muruganantham (Melbourne), Subramaniam Easwara Narthana (New Jersey, USA), Gangadharan Nagendra (Darwin) and Kayathri Kumaresar (Auckland).
Caring elder brother of late Sivapackiam Pasupathy, late Sitadevi Gangadharan, late Jeremiah Pathmanathan, late Kamaladevi Shanmugarajan and Jeremiah Viswanathan (Sri Lanka),
Brother-in-law of late Dr. Pasupathy, late Dr. Gangadharan, Indrani Pathmanathan, late Dr. Shanmugarajan, and Ranjini Viswanathan (Sri Lanka).
Affectionate grandfather of Suban, Branavan, Ganesh, Arun, Amuthan, Sivakami, Varun and Divya.
Through marriage, brother-in-law of late Sathiabaladevi Navaratnam, Sarojadevi Kanesathasan (USA) and Selvaretnem Raghavan (Sri Lanka).
Dr. Sithamparanathan was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Following his education at St. Thomas College and University of Ceylon, Dr. Sithamparanathan pursued his post-graduate studies at the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He lived in Turkey and Kenya while serving for the United Nations, and also made significant contributions to Sri Lanka and New Zealand as a scientist. During his retirement, Dr. Sithamparanathan published books for the use of university students in India and Sri Lanka, and devoted several years for the development of the students at the universities in eastern and northern Sri Lanka. Dr. Sithamparanathan was an ardent devotee of Ramana Maharshi, visited and stayed at Thiruvannamalai.
Funeral services will be held following the Hindu traditions at 10AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the Davis Funeral Services, 150 Central Park Drive, Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand.
