Mr. Lawrence Mariathas Philipneri was born in Thumpalai, Point Pedro, Sri Lanka. He later lived in Guyana and St. Louis, USA. Mr. Philipneri passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Philipneri (Emmanuel);
his children, Marie Dilusha (Valentine), Clarence Sanjay (Benitta), and Jude Dhilakshan (Anne); and
his grandchildren, Kavitha, Amalan, Nithya, Priya, James, John, Arun, Amara, and Ajay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mariampillai and Clara (David) Lawrence; his uncle, Rev. Fr. H. S. David; and his parents-in-law, Emmanuel and Thevaratnam.
He began his career as a lecturer at Pallaly Teachers’ College in Jaffna and later served as an Education Officer in Guyana and as a lecturer at the University of Guyana.
Lawrence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
