Mrs. Sarojini Thanabalasingham passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021.

She was the devoted wife of late Mr. K. Thanabalasingham,

Beloved mother of late Mrs. Janaki Selvakumar, Mani Vannan and Thana Ahilesan.

Loving Mother-In Law of Selvakumar, Shivanthi Vannan and Subangi Ahilesan

Loving Grandmother of Prashant, Shivashant, Dinesh, Krishan, Swati and Madhi.

Edearing sister to Late Mr. Vimalasingham, Late Mr. Puthirasingham, Late Mr. Kumarasingham, Bhavani Shanmugalingham and Arunthahy Ruthirarajah.

Sarojini was an accomplished Carnatic Vocalist, graduating from Ramanathan Music Academy and receiving advanced training from eminent musicians M.A. Kalyanakrishna Bagawathar, Maharajapuram Santhnam and Chithur Subramaniam Pillai. She also received special training in Hindu Devotional Music (Pann Isai) under Tharmapuram Swminathan and Kanchipuram Rajasekaran.
Sarojini was awarded the titles “Thevaramani” by His Holiness Swamy Shivantha and “Pann Isai Arasi” by the Maha Sannithanam of Thondaimandala Aatheenam of Kanchipuram. She has recalled with pride the privilege of being a music teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, an Institution established by her spiritual Guru His Holiness Swamy Shanthananda.
A popular Carnatic Music and Thevaram teacher in New Jersey where she resided, Sarojini counted over 30 years as an international musical performance artist on TV, Radio and live concerts and as lead vocalist in Bhratha Natyam recitals. Her dedication to teaching young and old alike will be fondly remembered by her students and the community.
Perhaps, the most precious gift to her children and grandchildren was her pivotal guidance in instilling a spiritual conscience and love & appreciation for music. This will remain a lifelong fond memory that will surely be passed on to the next generation. May her soul rest in peace

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Franklin Memorial Park Crematory, North Brunswick. Please note due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral attendance is limited to 25 people comprising of close family and friends.
