Mr. Sangarapillai Subramaniam (Thuraisamy), born in Kaithady, Sri Lanka and resided in Kopay and Wellawatte, Colombo, Sri Lanka, has passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Friday, February 11th, 2022 and entered eternal rest in God. He was a Retired Stationmaster (Sri Lanka Railways), Founder and Owner (BEMOTO Automotive), and Retired Managing Director (Jaffna Cooperative Stores (JCS) Ltd.).
He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Mrs. Maheswary Subramaniam for over 71 years.
Precious son of the late Mr. Sangarapillai (Kaithady, Sri Lanka) and late Mrs. Sivapakiam (Kaithady, Sri Lanka).
Dearest brother of late Mrs. Manonmany Sellathurai (Colombo, Sri Lanka), late Mrs. Sellam Navaratnam(Kaithady, Sri Lanka), and late Mrs. Thangamma Ponnuthurai (Kaithady, Sri Lanka).
Ever Loving father of Mathivathana-Ramanathan (Sri Lanka), Baskaran-Inthirani (Sri Lanka), Daniel Ravindran-Vani (Canada), Ganthimathy-Uthayacumaran (Canada), and Neranjan-Vasugi (United Kingdom).
Treasured grandfather of Abirami-Theepan (Canada), Dr. Ahalya-Sankar (United States), Rathiha-Quinton (Canada), Johnny-Esther (Canada), Akilan-Briana (Canada), Narmadhaa-Mayoran (Singapore), Dr. Tommy-Rebecca (Canada), Roobika (England), and Ghanika (England).
Delightful great-grandfather of Ishmerai (Canada), Nayani (Canada), Josiah (Canada), Isabella (Canada), Zemirah (Canada), Noah (Canada), Gabriella (Canada), Anna (Canada), Hiran (Singapore), and Aadhi (United States).
As the Patriarch of the family, Periya Athan/Appa/Mama/Uncle/Ammappa/ Appappa/Poota will be forever remembered for his devout love for God, loving and considerate heart, lively personality, and razor-sharp wit. An astute reader and avid news connoisseur, he was a captivating storyteller and candidly weighed in on any matter. We thank God for his principled life, loyal commitment to his family and community, dedication to public service, remarkable strength, and all the precious memories.
Funeral and cremation will take place on Monday, February 14, 2022.
