"It's socking and hard to swallow your untimely departure. Although it was a brief memory of your interaction in my life, your impact, especially your singing and entertaining while struggling together during ragging period, unusually long, at Pera was phenomenal. May your soul rests in peace. I also pray the God to give your family enough strength to cope up with this unimaginable loss. "

"I am extremely saddened to learn the sudden demise of my good friend Vijayaragavan. It was like yesterday we learned to drive around the Valakkamparai Amman temple with his batch mates Ambi, Rishi, Keerthy and my batch mate Srinivasan and my siblings late Sivaji and Dr. Gandhiji. I pray to Almighty Valakkamparai Amman for His soul to rest in permanent peace, and his wife, mother, and siblings and their loved ones to have the strength to cope up with the unbearable loss. I still remember the day we sought refuge at my batch mate Jude Pillainayagam's relative's house in Jaffna fleeing our hometowns during the IPKF occupation and travelled together to Colombo and Peradeniya many times. I am running out of words to console the loved ones devastated by his sudden departure."

"Early departure of a beautiful soul Viji has shaken all of us. There are no words that we can offer to console his family as we understand that Viji is the God Father of the extended family, much loved leader everyone relied upon. To Viji’s beloved wife, the twins, his mother, his siblings, and close friends, we wish to extend our deepest sympathies as we pray for his eternal peace.
We have very fond memories of Viji during our limited time back in the University of Peradeniya (Srilanka). As we struggled to keep our hopes and dreams in tact during a politically difficult time at the University and outside, Viji brought his jovial, charming, and entertaining personality to get us out of our difficult thoughts. Viji was always among us, singing songs, sharing jokes, and joining in everything that we would do to keep us occupied. Then we have to depart in different ways for nearly 30 years, we exchanged no messages, no emails, no calls. We tried to connect at times when I would pass through HongKong, but that opportunity did never eventuat. Suddenly, in the last month or so, we had two video calls, Viji turned up to show his old charm, entertaining as he reached out to everyone of the old gang as he recollected every funniest moments from our past life. We were surprised to see Viji in full swing as though we have never lost contact and never stopped talking and we had a lot of fun by reliving our uni days.
Now we are in shock, turning our pages of memories and old albums in search for the handsome face sparkling with his ever contagious smile. There are some inescapable thoughts in our mind that he might have known his impending departure as he dominated the last two video hookups. We are seeking comfort through that all of us had a special position in his life as he recollected his own memories with us. For his loved ones, we are sure that he must have been confident that you will be fine and he is no longer able to be the pillar of courage for you. Viji would not expect you to burrow in deep sorrows, instead, would like you all to seek courage in the way he gained his own courage to turn his life around against so much adversity, help many in his family to achieve what they have done already, bring up a beautiful family, and achieve what he has professionally achieved as a Senior Systems Architect in a leading firm for decades. Viji would be expecting all in his family to gain courage to carry on and change the adversities as advantage as he has done "

"it was shocking to hear Viji's passing. Viji, you know how close we were, you were part of many of life events. We did so many things together....going to Casuarina beach to learning driving etc. We learned about your singing ability in Peradeniya...kept us in a magical world with your voice. So much of memories we created together. You were there when i first talked my wife. It is not going to be easy to even think you are not around us. We just had a zoom call with you only a week before your passing..why in a hurry Viji? That call brought us together after 30 years. Was that a god's grace to make us see each other? We will cherish your your memories until we come and see you.
Our heartfelt condolences to Deepa, Aunty, Logi, Gaya, Sri and other family members.

"My heartfelt condolences to Viji's family. I met Viji in 1985 during a bus ride from Jaffna to Peradeniya. He stood out from the rest of the pack with his stylistic look and gorgeous smile. After a brief introduction, he and a few of our batchmates started singing as the bus traveling towards the destination- boy oh boy, Viji not only had the looks his singing was absolutely beautiful- he had great tonal quality. He was leader in our group- he had all the qualities to be a leader organization skills, caring, doer, people person. He was loved by all of us. I just can't believe he is no longer with us. We will surely miss this beautiful soul. May his soul rest in peace."

"My Friend,
When the news came that morning on WhatApp! I couldn't believe it.
For a moment, I prayed to the God, begging this shouldn't be true. As time passed, only did I realize that our friend Viji is no more. I am indeed in real shock, my friend to think that you are no longer with us.
You were an amazing wonderful human being and good friend, let alone charming, brilliant chap. I can't believe that you are no longer with us.
It was only a short 3 year period of time I had your friendship, but it was strong and deep.
I first met you in 1986 in the Pera Bus (to Peradeniya University) in Jaffna and had in contact with you till 1990. I didn't talk to you after that even though we exchanged pleasantries on WhatsApp roup time to time.
Those sweet memories are still lingering in our minds my friend: Peradeniya University, Hakgala Botanical Garden trip, Akbar stay, ragging, Lyons, cinemas, trips and so on. You stayed a few rooms away at Akbar from us and had a profound impact on all of us and the whole corridor. You had "raga" in your name, fittingly so, you also had an amazing voice and were a good singer in our university days. I used to think that we wasted those four years in Peradeniya, but those four years were prime, my friend.
When I left to England, you also came to England and we had a get together in East London too. Everything seems it was yesterday.
I have no words, my friend. The memories you left with us are sweet though short, but we will cherish it.
I don't usually cry, but I couldn't stop that morning. You will be dearly missed in our friends circles.
May your soul rest in peace.
